On Wednesday 17 November 2021, Cardiff BookTalk will be discussing Graham Greene’s The Power and the Glory.
Published in 1940, the novel tells the tale of a Catholic ‘whisky priest’ living in the Mexican state of Tabasco in the 1930s. During this time, the Mexican Government was attempting to suppress the Catholic Church. Join three experts to hear more about Greene, religion, and his incredible power as a storyteller.
Our speakers will present a 10-15 minute talk, followed by an opportunity for audience questions and discussion. To make the most of the session, you may like to read The Power and the Glory. Further recommended texts include Greene’s novels Brighton Rock and The End of the Affair.
Speakers:
Yuliya Kazanova
Martyn Sampson
Jon Wise
